The Senior Compliance Associate will review and provide compliance advice with a focus on loyalty and credit/debit marketing communications to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
A day in the life…
Review and draft legal disclosures for customer-facing marketing and service communications, including printed collateral, in-store signage, website content, emails, social media, voice communication scripts, and related processes and procedures to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Review, and provide compliance advice including internal company communications relating to loyalty marketing to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Identify, review, and communicate to Compliance team and the business applicable court rulings and regulatory guidance, including proposes and final rules and regulations and other regulatory guidance as appropriate, in both the U.S. and Canada
Prepare written guidance materials on complex legal and regulatory compliance topics for various business teams to support compliance programs and efforts throughout the company
Partner with stakeholders to design guidelines, programs, procedures including applying contract guidelines, and participate in the ongoing maintenance and distribution of those materials to help ensure compliance with contractual obligations and applicable laws
Develop and conduct business team trainings to further first-line knowledge and adherence to applicable legal and regulatory requirements
Interact with various departments, subsidiaries, and affiliates within the organization to ensure consistency with policies and procedures
Conduct risk assessment; recommend risk mitigation techniques and controls, such as first line management controls for various business team functions
Conduct first-line business compliance assurance reviews of business functions
Facilitate second-line compliance assurance reviews and assessments, and third-line internal audits, of business functions
Serve as liaison between business teams and other stakeholders to facilitate legal and regulatory compliance in connection with Nordstrom compliance, marketing, and advertising initiatives
Serve as the subject matter expert in assigned topics to provide compliance support to the business and various projects
You own this if you have…
A Bachelor’s degree required
Advanced degree in a related field (legal, finance, business, management) preferred
At least five years of experience in a financial industry consumer regulatory compliance position or a financial industry compliance audit position, requiring understanding and implementation of programs to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies and similar requirements
Experience interacting with creative teams (preferred)
Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and working knowledge of internet research techniques
ability to learn and develop proficiency in online legal and regulatory research
Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply regulations and laws
Ability to work independently, anticipate and address follow-up needs and escalate issues for management review
Ability to work effectively with marketing and credit partners to facilitate the delivery of communications related to the fashion and financial industry which complies with applicable laws and regulations
Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and research, reasoning and analytical skills
Proficiency in time-management with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
