The Chesapeake Planning Department is seeking a highly motivated planning professional to coordinate and conduct the review of development proposals and applications including rezoning, use permit, street closure, subdivision, site plan, etc. The successful candidate will evaluate and prepare recommendations of action in the form of detailed written reports to the Planning Commission and City Council.
The successful candidate must be well versed in the principles and practices of local government planning and demonstrate effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Candidates must be comfortable with the use of GIS and other technology. Candidates must be able to attend night meetings.
Requires a bachelor's degree in urban planning or closely related field.
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of two years of full-time equivalent experience.
Master's degree preferred.
