About the Role
HARMAN’s Luxury Audio group consists of a portfolio of the most respected brands in the audio industry – JBL Synthesis, Mark Levinson, Arcam, Lexicon, and Revel. As Sr. Principal Engineer, Software within the Mark Levinson Engineering group, you will be joining our team of world-class engineers who share a passion for impeccable sound and dedication to raising the bar for high-end consumer audio. Mark Levinson continues to set new standards of performance through advancements in design and the development of innovative audio technologies. In this role, you will manage and oversee the design and development of key software projects. You will ensure best practices around software development and project milestones are met on time and on budget with best in class quality.
You will report to the Director of Engineering.
What You Will Do
Architect, design, code, debug, and release embedded or Linux software for new product designs, working closely with hardware design engineers, product and project managers.
Lead and participate in design reviews during the concept stage, development stage, and production release.
Test and verify new code as required using industry best practice.
Track and resolve bugs.
Generate formal documentation for software and firmware; verify all product documentation before production phase; initiate engineering changes as required.
Perform liaison activities with outside organizations (customers, outside contractors, vendors, etc.) to obtain information and to advise on technical problems.
Support sustaining activity of equipment in the field and in the house (manufacturing, unit, and system test).
What You Need
BSEE, BSCE, or BSCS, plus a minimum of 10 years of software design and development experience.
Fluency in C/C++, Visual BASIC, and DSP programming.
Embedded or Linux system programming and design with various microcontrollers such as PIC, Atmel, ARM, etc.
Serial communication protocols: RS-232, I2C, SPI, I2S, USB.
Experience with HDMI video and HDCP software, and with Dolby, DTS, and Apple compliance requirements and testing.
What is Nice to Have
Familiarity / design experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Internet protocols (TCP/IP).
Experience with iOS and/or Android App development.
CPLD working knowledge and experience.
Experience in VHDL and/or Verilog.
What Makes You Eligible
Be willing to travel up to 10%, domestic and international travel.
Be willing to work in an office in Northridge, CA or Cambridge, UK.
Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
