Job overview and responsibilities

As a member of the United Airlines’ Digital Product team, the User Experience & Interface Designer will be a well-rounded design thinker, grounded in logic, structure and process; he or she will be an advocate for the user and possess a pension for visual and emotional solutions that are both usable and lovable. The right candidate will have a results and performance driven attitude with strong sense of accountability.

Design and map the experience using journey maps; create sketches, prototypes, wireframes, screen-flow diagrams & UI specs for testing and development
Collaborate with the project team (other UX, POs, BAs, developers, testers) to flesh out concepts and quickly build prototypes to socialize with key stakeholders
Transition between various digital channels including web and mobile app
Effectively communicate project status to management team on a regular basis
Present and defend your design decisions based on design thinking methodologies and fundamental UX principles


Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (ie. Human-Computer Interaction, information design, communications, Computer Systems, etc.)
Some understanding of HTML & CSS
Proficiency using Sketch, Axure, Invision, Adobe CS,
Understanding of web accessibility guidelines
Experience designing for mobile app and responsive web
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication, leadership and presentation skills
Highly professional, with the ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules
Demonstrated ability to define new approaches to complex design problems
Knowledge and practice of lean product design (UCD) principles
3+ years in UX or Interaction Design
Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Ability to conduct usability research studies
Airline experience
Understanding of HTML, JavaScript & CSS
