Clinical Research Patient Recruiter (Orthopaedics & Pain Management)

Reports to: Director of Research and Physicians

Position Summary: The Clinical Research Patient Recruiter is responsible for identifying and performing subject recruiting for active clinical trials to ensure qualified research subjects are available to meet sponsor and trial timelines. The Clinical Research Patient Recruiter works under the direction of the Director of Research and Physicians and relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job duties effectively.

Essential Job Duties:

Recruit qualified candidates for each study; collaborate as necessary with Sponsors & Research Staff for specific patient populations

Develop and implement study specific recruitment plans and programs

Contact and schedule targeted candidates after protocol review

Maintain patient contact and follow up; build and develop patient relationships

Develop and initiate on-line advertising and social media campaigns/community outreach programs

Maintain and expand the volunteer database; ensure subject data is entered and updated as needed

Collaborate with sponsors, physicians and clinic staff to ensure smooth procession of clinical trial enrollments.

Present and promote trials at community functions, health fairs, support groups, clinics, and trade shows.

Accountable for hitting revenue projections

All other duties as assigned

Professional Skills:

The ability to comprehend and transition between numerous clinical trials at any given time.

Able to identify the need to advertise for a particular patient population and help determine the appropriate type of advertisement for any given study.

Must have a strong working knowledge of medical terminology and understand diagnoses as they relate to pharmaceuticals.

Must be able to accurately assist in projecting and forecasting patient enrollment numbers.

The ability to strategize and problem solve to overcome enrollment obstacles.

Understand the key factors that draw patients to clinical trials — and use this information to chart a successful recruiting strategy.

Utilize feasibility expertise, strategic site relationships and direct patient outreach capabilities.

Be able to develop patient recruitment and retention strategies.

Must be able to track data accurately and meet enrollment goals on a consistent basis.

Professional, organized with time management skills

Human relations and teamwork

Thorough working knowledge of Phase II – Phase IV clinical trials and regulations

Personal Adaptability

Listening and effective communications

Computer skills including proficiency in database management, spreadsheets, statistical software and programming. Proficient in MS Office Suite and MAC systems

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science Degree in related field

Minimum of 2 years of experience in Clinical Research or Medical Office work setting is required

Detail oriented and thorough knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosis’ and medications

Excellent problem solving, organizational, and leadership skills

Knowledge of fundraising and public relations

Ability to understand and communicate research protocol requirements to others

Works well in a team environment on multiple tasks and can manage time effectively

Proficient with on-line marketing methods

Software familiarity, specifically MAC Systems and Windows

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must be compassionate, sensitive and understanding to support the patients

Working Conditions:

The Clinical Research Patient Recruiter works in well-lighted, clean medical office environment. This position may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and other hazardous materials and should follow all safety protocols in place. The Clinical Research Patient Recruiter is exposed to the temperatures and noise levels of a typical medical office environment.
