We are seeking an electrical or computer engineer to helpsolve national security challenges. This Research and Development (R&D) LaboratoryEngineer role will enhance APL's Resilient Military Systems Group's ability tocollect data, drive hardware-in-the-loop experimentation, and prototype novelsolutions for numerous sponsor agencies and departments. You will work withteams of engineers whose goals are to innovate, assess and integrate real-timesystems analysis, perform laboratory / field-testing, assist in post-processingdata analysis, and present results to sponsors. As a Resilient Systems Research andDevelopment (R&D) Laboratory Engineer, you will:
Contribute as team member on adiverse portfolio of government-sponsored projects, applying creative thinkingto solve challenging problems related to critical DoD and Space mission systems'cybersecurity
Support the development of simulation, emulation, and analytic software used in laboratory experimentation
Interface system components withtest, measurement, and analysis equipment, enabling cybersecurity-relatedresearch and development
Advise project teams on hardware-in-the-loop experimentation approaches
Lead equipment inventory and calibration processes, and develop standard operating procedures for equipment use
Coordinate with project teams on provisions for, and execution of, laboratory presentations and demonstrations
Ensure the security of laboratory equipment inaccordance with applicable regulations
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
Possess a BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Have 2 years' automated test instrumentation programming experience for external physical systems control, monitoring, and communication
Have 2 years' embedded hardware and software development and troubleshooting experience with varied microcontroller architectures, compilers, debuggers, and development tools interfacing to real-time systems including I2C, RS-232/422/485, IEEE-488 GPIB, USB, SPI, J1939/CAN, Internet TCP/IP protocols and busses
Have 2 years' experience developing for embedded systems, real-time operating systems, microcontrollers, FPGA, and weapons systems assemblies
Can safely interface test artifacts with laboratory equipment through a variety of protocols and electrical characteristics; necessary skills include extracting information from datasheets and ensuring devices are connected within specified operational and safety constraints
Proficient with the safe operation of standard electrical engineering laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies
Are willing and able to travel up to 5%
Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Have a MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Have 2 years' Electrical schematic design experience with Mentor DX Designer, ORCAD, or similar packages
Have 2 years' experience using National Instruments LabVIEW, or are a certified LabVIEW developer
Have experience with engineering for military platforms and systems, including weapons, aircraft, spacecraft, ground vehicles, ships, submarines; combat systems, C4I, avionics and navigation systems, etc.
Have the knowledge and skills to ensure network and system cybersecurity
Have experience administrating a wide range of operating systems, including but not limited to Linux and Linux-based Environments, Windows Server, Android/iOS, VxWorks, Green Hills, Cisco IOS, etc.
Have experience maturing products from lower to higher technology readiness levels (TRLs)
Have an active Top Secret security clearance
