Staff Development Specialist / Education Specialist / Continuing Medical Education Specialist / Clinical Education Specialist / Instructional Designer
Full Time

The facility Staff Development Specialist organizes clinical and professional department education courses. The specialist will also consult with and serve as a resource for assigned contract educators with the overall goal of protecting the health, safety, and rights of individuals, families and the community.
Coordinates/develops/designs education for all clinical, professional and support departments.
  • Develops educational programs with patient safety as primary goal
  • Demonstrates competency as an educator focusing on instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles
  • Conducts learning needs assessments for clinical, professional and support staff by department
  • Seeks opportunities for interprofessional education
  • Coordinates and presents Hospital General Orientation
  • Coordinates and promotes the Cultural Diversity program through the Population Specific Council
  • Coordinates and promotes the Ethics Education program through the Ethics Education Subcommittee
  • Functions as LMS content expert (HealthStream and CE Direct)
  • Participates in health/educational community involvement, lifelong learning
  • Participates in development and evaluation of professional practice by participating on units and/or hospital committees, special projects and attendance at staff meetings and town halls
  • Actively participates in unit and/or hospital performance improvement activities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Education, Technical Communication, or Instructional Design is required
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in adult education or training is required
  • National Specialty Certification is preferred
