The Strayer Portfolio Product Manager/Director (title commiserate with experience) will be one of two positions strategically managing Strayer University new and/or existing product offerings, in an effort to bring economic mobility to students by creating relevant and meaningful educational opportunities, advancing their careers and transforming their lives.
Successful candidates will partner cross-functionally to:
Develop Professional Program level Strategies and Roadmap and an effort to drive growth and revenue. Activities and Initiatives related to this initiative will be:
Developing and delivering differentiated products, pricing, promotion and positioning in order to achieve positive business outcomes.
Strategically managing the product portfolio for the short-term and long-term, including building a pipeline of future products, assessing products for restage and retirement, and adjusting existing products as needed to reflect market, learner and employer insights.
Thinking with an external perspective to optimize product and portfolio performance.
Developing and managing portfolio offerings that promote connection to next degree opportunities thereby maximizing learner lifetime value.
Identifying and implementing non-product growth opportunities via new channels (i.e. employer and associations) as well as through strategic marketing, partnerships, pricing and promotions designed to engage prospective learners and drive new enrollment growth.
Developing non-degree offerings that promote upskilling and reskilling, and that provide cost-effective entry points that can transition into degree attainment.
Maintaining an ongoing SWOT analysis and apply insight from KPIs to influence road-map development, marketing and channel activities.
Tracking and reporting on key data (i.e. lead volume, conversion, new enrollment, etc.) to identify product performance trends, issues, and opportunities across all points of the learner lifecycle in order to achieve business goals and create a positive experience for our learners.
Actively monitor external market intelligence:
Applying intellectual curiosity to test hypotheses, think strategically and plan with an external perspective.
Conducting primary and secondary research to represent the voice of the learner/employer, ensuring that their needs are at the forefront of our efforts and helping our team iterate and improve on our product offerings.
Proactively identifying insights and trends by regularly assessing the external market to ensure alignment with learner and employer needs.
Assessing and preparing competitive intelligence for the purpose of evaluating future product and market development opportunities; leverage insights to direct portfolio decisions and review with the organization on a regular basis.
Providing project team members with a clear vision and purpose for the product portfolio, and create a positive tone and morale for the team. Motivate team members and build project team identity and cohesion. Ensure cross-discipline coordination and communication.
Partnering with academic and financial managers to understand P&L impacts of strategic portfolio decisions.
Preparing and delivering effective product training for Enrollment, Advising, Employer and Marketing teams to ensure portfolio success through B2B and B2C channels.
Collaborating with Product Operation Managers to drive operational efficiency from concept to launch.
Partnering with academic leaders (Deans, Chairs, Faculty) to manage the product portfolio by optimizing program offerings and content to drive strategic and operating plan goals and results.
Ensuring consistent, cohesive messaging across all channels including enrollment counselors, B2C marketing and employer solutions.
Ensuring strategic initiatives are project managed and executed to achieve defined objectives.
Demonstration of the SEI leadership behaviors and guiding principles.

Experience in gathering voice of the customer, conducting market research, and synthesizing data/key insights to produce influential business cases leading to innovative products and services.
Experience managing products (new, restage, retirement) through all stages of the product life cycle.
Demonstrated skill and ability to influence colleagues via verbal and written communications.
Possess and apply excellent training and presentation skills.
Strong analytical mindset: proven ability to access, analyze, draw conclusions and take action using data.
Self-directed and self-motivated with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize deliverables, and meet deadlines.
Required Education and Experience:
3+ years of product management experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree; Masters preferred.
Industry, market and/or profession experience preferred.
Additional related experience, formal education, and Capella University knowledge may be substituted for the education, product management and/or industry experience requirements.
