The Patient Care Associate (PCA) is a certified (or registered) Medical Assistant with a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Medical Assistant in primary or specialty care. This position is both clinical and administrative with approximately 50% of time spent on administrative, analytical, and/or clerical functions.
Monday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Tues - Fri: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Assists medical providers with patient care activities that includes (but not limited to)
Patient intake history taking, vital sign documentation, medication reconciliation, medical record documentation, specimen collection, EKG preparation, patient screening (i.e. depression, substance abuse, developmental), lab tracking, referral tracking, performance improvement activities.
Maintains records and interacts in a professional, friendly manner with patients, family members, physicians, clinicians, staff, and visitors.
Trains and mentors new medical assistants and PCAs.
Responsible for clinical process improvement and acts as a coordinator and liaison between center leadership, BMS leadership and the care team.
Active participant on Performance Improvement Teams and works to document, record, monitor and present Performance Improvement efforts and progress.
Proactively identifies flow and other center-based issues, making recommendations for resolution of the problem.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through the AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA only.
5+ years of CURRENT experience as a Medical Assistant in a family practice setting. Must be knowledgable of all patient types from birth through geriatric care.
