The Traffic Specialist is responsible for the route planning of deliveries to home dialysis patients, hospitals, and dialysis centers in diverse areas across their assigned region. This is accomplished by utilizing Baxter’s private fleet along with third party vendors. This position is accountable for assisting in minimizing freight costs, and meeting productivity goals to include; Private fleet budget, and private fleet utilization. The Traffic Specialist also relies heavily on Baxter customer service, and Baxter field personnel to help meet these goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain computerized routing environments by updating delivery time windows, pick-ups, redeliveries, geocodes and maintaining all appropriate data.
Utilize a computer routing system to assist in routing orders, pick-ups, and redeliveries, then analyze the outcome to develop the most cost efficient and customer service oriented routing scenarios on a daily basis.
Make sound financial decisions on orders not delivering on the private fleet while keeping customer service in mind.
Maintain open lines of communication with customer service and the warehouse staff.
Responsible for regional budget/forecast commitments.
Maintain daily and weekly warehouse driver schedule.
Develop and submit weekly analytical progress reports.
Traffic Specialist may be required to cover teammate duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have very strong analytical, PC, communication, and organizational skills. The position requires the ability to multi-task and also the talent needed to work in a fast paced, high stress environment.
Must have a demonstrated aptitude for data analysis, as the position requires the ability to assemble information, analyze, verify, and make recommendations based on the analysis.
Must be able to work in a team environment and have independent self direction.
Must be able to multi-task, be flexible, use problem-solving skills, and make decisions.
Education and Experience
High school degree or equivalent is required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
1 plus years of distribution and/or transportation experience preferred.
