We are currently looking for a dynamic individual as a Quality Chemist located in Port Neches, TX. The Quality Chemist will be responsible for providing technical, operational and analytic support to the quality control labs, production units, and business teams for driving improvements to product quality processes and the QC laboratories. Will lead quality improvement efforts between operations and the laboratories through Gage Studies, GMP Risk Assessments, Internal Audits, and other capability improvements initiatives. Position will also serve as a contact for internal and external customer inquiries, assist with the Site Quality Plan and Quality Coordinator and oversee quality databases.
What will be expected from you?
Liaison between production groups, analytical group and business teams; provide technical assistance for production quality issues and help resolve testing issues
Quality responsibilities for Pt. Neches Operations products at U.S. Stockpoints including routine audits
Assist with quality inspections of shipping containers/vessels
Lead Gage Studies, SQC improvement efforts and capability improvements for the site
Participate in leading internal quality audits and GMP Risk Assessments
Oversee quality and customer databases for the site
Assist Quality Assurance Coordinator with customer (internal/external) inquiries, complaints/concerns, data analysis and corrective actions
Back up the Quality Assurance Coordinator as needed
Ability to work extra hours as needed
Work collaboratively with team members
Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company
Participates in and completes company-required training programs
What are we looking for in the ideal Candidate?
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related science; with a minimum 5 years of analytical experience in manufacturing within the Quality Control/Quality Assurance environment
Hands on experience in handling, troubleshooting and maintaining analytical instruments
Ability to use critical thinking to solve complex problems with multiple variables
Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Ability to follow Laboratory Procedures and Protocols
Work as a member of a team

Strong understanding of ISO and GMP concepts and requirements
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Ability to solve complex challenges by reviewing analytical data and identifying trends
Detail oriented with a strong sense of safety awareness
Demonstrated use of Six Sigma/Lean tools for data analysis is preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills and is able to communicate effectively through all levels of the organization
High level of proficiency with Microsoft programs and LIMS systems
