In the role of Day Cook, your overarching responsibility is to ensure that the ranch’s image and reputation is maintained as a high quality, professional, guest focused facility as seen through the eyes of the guests, the town of Whitefish, Flathead Valley, nationally and internationally. This is to be accomplished by providing focused, consistent, and high quality customer service internally and externally in a professional manner at all times. In addition to the hourly wage, the position is eligible for tip and and end of season bonus.

General Responsibilities

Under the direction of the General Manger and Managing Partner, the Day Cook is responsible for organization and preparation of meals as well as the day to day care, organization, and cleanliness of the kitchen, food storage areas and food preparation and serving equipment. All employees must adhere to the Operations Document. Each staff member is a “Safety Manager” on the ranch.

Being a responsible, dedicated role model to the guests and staff; providing organized, punctual and intentional leadership, creativity, direction and supervision during activities, trips and around the ranch and in the lodge; taking ownership for your personal attitude, behavior and knowledge building; working with other staff members to provide a quality experience for all guests; and adjusting one's personal habits to the philosophy, policies and ideals of the ranch including a comprehensive understanding of and respect for our time-off/alcohol policies and procedures.

Head/Night Cook Duties are but not limited to:

  • Demonstrate a full commitment to providing the best possible experience for guests.
  • Work with the Head Cook to order food and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation.
  • Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
  • Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities.
  • Work with the Head Cook, General Manager, and/or Managing Partner to rectify arising problems and or complaints
  • Instruct other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food.
  • Being flexible in response to current and emergency situations and to shifts in responsibilities and assignments.
  • Work closely with the Head Housekeeper and Head Wrangler to determine production schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure timely delivery of meals.
  • Maintaining a gentle, professional and educational tone at all times when working with or around both guests and employees.
  • Portraying a good example of team work to the guests and other employees.
  • Cook on the cattle drives.
  • Be a team player.
  • Ride for the “Brand”
  • Other duties as assigned.

Training

  • You are required to have current first aid and CPR Red Cross certification prior to arriving at the ranch. This is at your expense.
  • There is a 3 day training that you are required to be in attendance. The training starts on May 10th and ends on May 12th. You will be paid for these days.

Salary: $10.00 /hour
