Andy Arts Project Manager
Andy Arts seeks part-time person to manage the essential activities of Andy Arts and assist the project directors in project development. Andy Arts is a developing community art center located in Detroit, Michigan. Our current activity focuses on facilitating space use and publicity for artists, cultural producers and community organizations who rent and engage our spaces. Primary responsibilities
- Gain an overall understanding of the mission, challenges and future vision of Andy Arts
- Handle all aspects of communication between people requesting use of space and Andy Arts, Monday - Friday, via email, text, phone and on-site meetings
- Expand and deepen Andy Art’s engagement with diverse communities by forging new relationships with artists, organizations and cultural producers
- Independently evaluate space use requests, determine cost and give quote for space use based on organizational priorities and facility functionality
- Schedule event staff and security as required
- Pay staff on a per gig basis as budgeted and discuss staff performance periodically
- Create monthly newsletter
- Grow email list for newsletter and fundraising purposes
- Update website pages as necessary
- Serve as contact person for social media manager and event staff
- Gain awareness of functionality and proper use of our facility
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year experience with event management in the areas of arts and/or entertainment
- Experience with staff management
- Experience with customer relationships and negotiation
- Alignment with the specific context of Andy Arts and our mission
- Understanding of the essentials of facility use and maintenance
- BA degree preferred
Skills
- Capacity to act independently exercising good judgment
- Possess organizational skills, including ability to be self-organizing and provide timely communication
- Customer relations skills and networking ability
- Knowledge of google workplace
- Excellent writing ability
Hours and Salary
This is a largely remote part time position, Monday-Friday, requiring about 12-20 hours of time weekly. Weekly meetings with project directors, on-site or online, will be required. There will be a 6 month trial period in which the position is a 1099 contactor position.
Payment is $2000 per month paid on a bi-weekly basis; in addition to this salary a bonus will be offered based on performance evaluation after 6 months. Two weeks paid vacation will be provided in the initial year after 9 months. No medical benefits will be provided at this time. Position has potential for growth as our organization and facility has significant potential for broadened engagement.
