Aerojet Rocketdyne (AR) is seeking a Vendor/Business Relationship Manager (V/BRM) to join our Supply Chain team in Sacramento, California.
The Vendor/Business Relationship Manager (V/BRM) is an individual contributor responsible for the day to day management and maintenance of relationships with 3rd party outsources vendors. Utilizing established best practices, VRM is responsible for the oversight, management and continuous improvement for the vendors’ performance. This role is specific to an Information Technology Outsourced environment (ITO).
This position may be filled at the level posted or one level higher.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Working under limited general direction:
35% - Contract Administration: Be the subject matter expert on contracts pertaining to outsourced 3rd part arrangement, including terms and conditions, financial provisions, roles and responsibilities and all supporting documents. Team lead in contract formulation, negotiations, and post-award change control. Using data driven analytics, evaluate and monitor contracts to ensure vendors comply with all contractual terms and conditions. Act as the liaison between AR Legal and vendors. Serve as an informal SME and on-the-job training resource for vendor delivery managers and/or AR stakeholder groups.
25% - Performance Management: Using Service Level or Key Performance methodologies track and analyze vendor performance, generate reports as required, provide operational oversight, assess and execute penalties or incentives per contract terms. Identify issues and opportunities and provide recommendations for performance improvement and, when necessary, implement action plans accordingly.
25% - Relationship Management: Establish strong partnerships with AR stakeholders to ensure effective planning and collaboration on appropriate vendor/contractual related matters. Effectively manager relationship with vendor account/delivery managers to ensure consistent service delivery and customer satisfaction. Facilitate communication and coordination of activities between AR stakeholders and vendor delivery managers and project teams. Coordinate vendor activities as they relate to customer initiatives, program enhancements and new implementations. Lead or be a key participant in problem resolution activities, utilizing a governance model as depicted in the contract(s).
10% - Provides regular updates to VMO (Vendor Management Office), upper management and executive leadership including recommendations on new or renewal of vendor contracts.
5% - Project management: Lead or support cross-functional project teams to develop efficient processes aligned with long-term corporate goals. Adapt or create new and effective processes as necessary. Manage broad functional projects and/or participate as a contract SME on larger project or initiatives.
Requires a Bachelor's degree required plus minimum of 6 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advance degree or similar Master-level degree preferred.
U.S. Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Four-plus years’ experience in a vendor management environment. Focus on an IT environment is preferred. Demonstrated subject matter expertise in Contract Administration along with one or more of the attributes defined under Key Responsibilities above. Prior experience in negotiating and analyzing complex contracts and vendor relationships, coupled with a deep knowledge of vendor performance metrics, is also preferred.
Additional preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
Related experience in a third part outsourcing function that included accountability for complex tasks and/or projects required for successful execution. Experience in acquisition planning, developing state of work, risk analysis, contract consultation, and vendor management, or equivalent management experience.
Experience documenting vendor management procedures and identifying process risk.
Experience researching contracts for possible business and compliance risks.
Strong understanding of the operational effects of contract language.
Ability to lead others and manage performance.
Exceptional ability to influence others, including key decisions during day-to-day activities.
Highly refined negotiation, analytical and written/verbal communication skills.
Strong presentation, organizational, interpersonal communication, and analytical skills required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel: knowledge of other Microsoft Office products.
Experience with Project Management protocols.
