Cedar Grove Composting is a local, family-owned business with deep roots in the Seattle area dating back to 1938. Cedar Grove plays a critical role in the Puget Sound’s recycling infrastructure and sustainability efforts, diverting more than 350,000 tons of yard waste and food scraps from landfills annually. With two processing facilities in Maple Valley and Everett, Cedar Grove is a local manufacturer providing green jobs in King and Snohomish Counties. Cedar Grove produces wholesome, nutrient-rich compost that is sold to businesses, governments and residents, ensuring consumers have access to locally produced, recycled products.
Primarily responsible for the timely and accurate generation of monthly financial statements and to manage the daily accounting activities ensuring that proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
Prepare monthly financial statements and other financial reports. Review statements for accuracy and research and report on variances and trends.
Supervise the month end close process and adhere to month end deadlines
Prepare and/or review journal entries for accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective action.
Prepare and/or review bank reconciliations monthly. Work with appropriate personnel to research and resolve issues or discrepancies.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts with particular focus on inventory, fixed assets and debt. Identify any issues with reconciliations and work with appropriate personnel to resolve.
Ensure all journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end schedules are kept in audit ready condition and actively support year-end audit of financial statements.
Assist in the preparation of budgets.
Understanding of general ledger and accounting functions including proficiency in journal entry preparation and general ledger account reconciliation
Advanced Excel with strong report presentation skills
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Experience working with Microsoft Dynamic accounting system or similar a plus
Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of company personnel in a “team” manner
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
CPA strongly preferred
2+ years of public accounting experience
5+ years of experience in private industry accounting
Manufacturing accounting experience a plus
