The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Responsibilities include scientific research using in vivo and in vitro models to investigate signaling pathway regulation of bone formation and the musculoskeletal system. The applicant is expected to submit and collaborate on grant proposals and journal publications, participate in the department's educational programs as assigned, and mentor and teach junior lab members. He/She will work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment with experts in engineering, biology, and medicine. Applicants must have experience in small animal models, cell culture, bone/cartilage biology, stem cell biology, and/or cell signaling, and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and research. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences (or equivalent) and postdoctoral experience in research fields related to Bone Biology, Stem Cells, Endocrinology, Mouse Genetics, Pre-Clinical drug targeting, and/or Translational Animal Models. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, including a demonstrated ability to publish research results in peer-reviewed journal articles. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research and education.

We are seeking candidates with research interests and expertise in musculoskeletal biology, analysis of genetic mouse models, and in vitro cell mechanism studies. Start dates are available as early as July 2018.
