Biogen has one of the most exciting pipelines in the Biotech / Pharmaceutical industry. Over the next five years, the company plans to significantly grow its portfolio. This growth brings exciting opportunities to work with our expanding business areas. One of these opportunities is to work in IT Enterprise Architecture to improve how Biogen manages its portfolio of IT assets.
Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a foundational IT capability that improves how Biogen manages its portfolio of information technology assets. Biogen depends on a core set of Enterprise Architecture tools and processes to ensure that functional and platform roadmaps enable the company to meet its strategic and tactical needs.

The Principal Business Analyst for IT EA (The Analyst), serves as a primary business liaison to everyone in Biogen who depends on EA tools and processes. In this role, The Analyst is expected to coordinate programs and work in collaboration with the end-users to ensure that EA tools and processes align with strategic and functional expectations. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to understand and define business processes, business cases, technical solutions, collaborate with managed service providers, implement hardware and software systems, and provide user support.

Two specific EA tool and processes areas are of extreme importance. The Analyst has deep experience with (1) Integrated IT Portfolio Management (ITPM) and (2) Business Process Analysis tools and processes. At least 2 years of experience with an ITPM tool called EOS is extremely important.

The Analyst must be focused on business outcomes and will be responsible for project success from initial project business case justification through operationalization.

The Analyst contributes to the multi-year operating plan and works together EA Stakeholders to define new investments in-line with company strategic direction and department deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted partner, representing EA to users, and contribute to user’s success, both on current requirements and anticipation of future needs.

Align EA stakeholders when defining procedures, requirements, budgets, and strategies.

Oversee programs and projects, meet time lines and manage resources in line with expected outcomes, business alignment and deliverables.

Continually optimize, in an Agile way, EA tools and processes.

Direct support of EA’s software portfolio (e.g. ITPM, BPA, etc), and oversee software and data installations, configurations, support and continued maintenance.

Oversee work by vendors, managed service providers, and implementation partners. Contribute to vendor management initiatives and align with strategic sourcing vendors.

Supervise application support teams responsible for overseeing application support services to all end users and delivering the final tier of support.

Contribute to leadership directives as a member of the EA IT team.

Communicate status clearly and in a timely manner with EA stakeholders.

Training users and developing training material.

Qualifications

Experience with EA tools and processes:
At least 2 years of experience with an ITPM tool called EOS

At least one year of experience with Business Process Analysis tools

Experience with an IT Service Management tool called ServiceNow

Experience with other EA tools is a plus

Experience with Agile software delivery practices.

Experience with complex data comparisons and manipulation to enable rationalized data load into Quality and Production application environments.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex technology matters to audiences with varying degrees of technical background. Proficiency in articulating how technology can be used to enable EA capabilities.

Collaborative cross-functional leadership skills, including leading and influencing teams.

Experience developing and presenting training material.

Experience in a life science organization is strongly preferred.

Ability to assist senior management with strategic plans and road maps, and to translation plans into tactical projects.

IT project management skills, including project, budget and vendor management are a must.

Exposure to software programming and an understanding of programming standards and code review is a plus.

Experience integrating cloud software applications.

Software testing experience:
Approximately 5-7 years of experience beyond their academic training in the areas described.

Education

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
