Full Job Description
NATURE OF WORK: This position receives training and performs work in all phases of construction, maintenance and general labor, such as repair building framework and home building structures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all phases of construction, maintenance, or general laborer related projects as directed.
Attend training as scheduled and receive instruction and direction from the Housing Intern Superintendent and Assistant Housing Director.
Follow blueprints and building plans to meet criteria and regulations.
Install structures and fixtures (i.e. windows and moldings, etc.) as instructed.
Measure, cut or shape wood, plastic, fiberglass, drywall and other materials.
Construct building framework, including wall studs, floor joists and doorframes as instructed.
Help erect, level and install building framework using proper tools.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of basic math.
Skill in using basic math and tape measure.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to follow safety rules and regulations.
Ability to perform work on ladders, outdoors, and in all types of weather.
Ability to work with a variety of tools including hand and power tools.
Ability to arrive at work on time as scheduled.
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
High school diploma, GED or willing to enroll in a GED program.
Must have a Washington State driver's license and be insurable under the Nisqually Indian Tribe's insurance.
Must be willing and able to work on all Nisqually Tribe owned properties which may include travel.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly over the course of eight hours.
