We are a wellness spa and retail boutique in Portland offering a variety of organic skin care products, holistic facial treatments, advanced massage therapy and bodywork. We also parter with some sister business's in the neighborhood to utilize our studio space for classes, meditations and sound baths. We're owned and operated by a massage therapist and maintain a nuanced, inclusive, worker centric environment.
About the position...
The Operations team is responsible for preparing and maintaining all of the day to day spa operations. It requires a genuine interest comprehensive knowledge of all our services, staff and systems in order to effectively assist clients with scheduling or purchasing products. This position works closely with the spa director and the rest of the operations team to manage all aspects of the retail and service sales, client relations, and operations tasks. We intend to hire someone with at least one of the following: experience in office management, experience in small business development, online retail knowledge, Mindbody software experience, Canva or other graphic design skills.
Schedule...
Our schedule is built around the needs of the staff and stays consistent. Currently we're looking for someone for 20-25 hours per week and has Saturday availability.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities...
- Opening and/or Closing the spa
- Managing and coordinating the service schedule
- Stocking and Merchandising retail and spa supplies
- Managing retail inventory
- Managing client communications
- Making recommendations on seasonal product promos
- Maintaining the flow of the spa laundry cycle (wash,dry, fold, put away)
- Responsible for creating and maintaining a warm, friendly vibe for staff and clients to enter into.
- Complete spa service & retail transactions
- Light cleaning (includes bathrooms and washing tea cups)
- Communicating with coworkers for operational continuity
- Managing day to day issues that pop up with a reliably grounded approach

- Strong computer skills: this position uses an iMac computer and relies heavily on both MindBody Online scheduling software and Google Workspace. Proficiency in both will need to be achieved for success.

Growth and Development opportunities...
Starting Pay is 20 per hour for the probationary, first 3 month onboarding period.
If training objectives are met at 3 months and it's determined to be a good fit, compensation will increase to $22.50/hr.
At 6 months of service, if skill and knowledge objectives have been met, compensation will be raised to $25/hr
Further advancement can be discussed and is encouraged as we are growing!
We love to utilize our teams skills in other areas and look for additional opportunities to integrate those when all operations objectives are consistently met. These opportunities depend on your specific talents and interests and the particular needs of the spa.

Is Overtime often available?
No
Is the Schedule flexible?
Yes, somewhat. As a team, we work together to help each other take the time off we need and cover each other when we’re sick. Otherwise, we try to maintain a consistent schedule from week to week.
Is remote work available:
This is an onsite position. There are, occasionally, opportunities to do remote work for the spa but this is not the norm and cannot be accommodated for.
What is your business model?
We operate in a non-hierarchical business model with voluntary team leaders and a worker centric, relationship based culture.
