Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals, and will support the Mechanisms and Weapons Integration group which is responsible for the design and analysis of mechanisms for Advanced Programs. This position will be located at Northrop Grumman's South Bay Aircraft Design Center in El Segundo, CA.
You'll be joining the Vehicle Integration (VI) organization. The VI organization provides innovative research, technology development and engineering for aircraft advanced design, including mechanical design and mechanisms, thermal systems, environment control systems, secondary power systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, fire protection systems and electrical systems.
Primary role is to serve as the mechanisms design lead for complex electromechanical integration trades.
Provide technical guidance to, and facilitate coordination of, a team of engineers and Integrated Product Team (IPT) stakeholders across multiple disciplines supporting the design, development and integration of complex electromechanical systems.
Lead effort to develop a mechanisms hardware and installation systems requirements document to be compatible with related subsystems design integration and satisfy overall program key performance parameters.
Define a requirements validation and verification matrix, including the specific method of verification for requirements compliance.
Establish a team schedule of design tasks to meet overall program milestones and assign task responsibilities to individual team members, including himself/herself, for hardware design, kinematic model development, and 3D layouts creation using NX CAD software.
Other responsibilities and duties may include mentoring junior engineers in mechanisms design, providing regular technical status reports and briefings to program management, assisting with cost and schedule management, developing basis of estimates for new and/or modified tasks, and possibly supplier subcontract technical management and liaison duties.
