You will be joining a team of hardworking and dedicated engineers developing systems for our nation’s warfighters. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to help us perform full lifecycle development to include the design, fabrication, integration, testing and evaluation of Maritime systems.
As a Maritime Mechanical Engineer…
Your primary responsibility will be the design of mechanical systems using CAD tools and other design tools as needed.
Lead mechanical engineering projects.
Conduct analysis and testing of mechanical systems.
Develop test plans, conduct tests and document test results.
Prepare technical documentation for projects.
Prepare for and conduct periodic design reviews, as well as technical reports and other briefing materials for presentation to all levels of staff and Government agencies.
Participate in the installation, test and maintenance of systems onboard Navy platforms, and shore installations.
Work closely with JHU/APL fabrication shops as well as external vendors
You will meet our minimum qualification for the job if you…
Have a BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Ocean Engineering or Naval Architect, or related field.
Have 3 or more years of relevant experience developing mechanical systems.
Have experience with CAD (SolidWorks, CREO or other Design Packages), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, stress and thermal analysis using finite element software, and manufacturing processes
Demonstrated initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with tight delivery schedules on systems that operate on land, sea or air.
Ability to take a system through the Life-Cycle process.
Ability to effectively work and communicate orally and in writing with other engineers, scientists, and technicians as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

MS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Ocean Engineering or Naval Architecture.
Experience with design and integration of unmanned vehicles (UxV’s), and undersea sensors (acoustic and non-acoustic).
Experience with MATLAB.
Experience with the NAVSEA Temporary Alteration Design Package development.
Experience leading project teams.
Have an active Secret level security clearance
