The EMT Dispatcher is responsible for answering and processing emergency, non-emergency and administrative calls in a timely and professional manner. Under the direction of the dispatch supervisor, this position is accountable for receiving requests for service, inputting the information into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, proper classification of calls, deployment of resources utilizing principles of System Status Management and advanced knowledge of service area, selecting and dispatching the appropriate unit(s) to respond to calls and maintaining correct system status control by relocating units post assignments as designated by the System Status Plan. Standard of performance is limited to the use of the knowledge, skills and techniques within the NAED EMD Guidelines and in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and Jersey City Medical Center policies.
NJ EMT Basic, American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider, High School Diploma or GED, APCO BTC or State approved equivalent, NAED EMD, HazMat Awareness and Operations within the last 12 months, CEVO training within 3 years.
