This position is for an Inspection Assistant. (Growth opportunities available.)
Description: An inspection assistant assists in performing inspections and testing on residential homes, nearly all of which are new construction. The inspection consists of gathering information on building attributes which affect the performance of the home (i.e. - window sizing and data, HVAC models, Appliances, etc.). The testing consists of blower door infiltration testing, and duct leakage testing. Data is collected and then entered into a computer model of the home. Work varies between trips to homes for testing, and office time for computer modeling. Other building testing and consulting is sometimes part of the job.
Some days may include as much as 3-4 hours driving, and you may be called on to drive, so a good driving record and a current license are a must. Promptness and reliability are essential (references will be checked) as you are frequently working with another individual and we can't have one person waiting around for a tardy employee. The ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. and use up to an 8' ladder is required. We will provide proper training for inspecting, data-collection, testing, & computer modeling. An ability to read house plans is helpful, but not necessary.
The ideal/successful candidate will have the following:
- The ability to work alone for extended parts of the day, and in small groups as needed.
- Good communication skills are necessary to communicate problems (and successes) to builders, and to other members of the team.
- Reliability and promptness is a must.
Pay is negotiable depending on experience. Our typical work week is 40-42 hours per week. We value work life balance, so it has been rare for anyone to exceed 40 hours in a given week. We don’t yet offer medical benefits but do have 10 days PTO per year and various paid holidays. We give you your birthday as a paid day off so you can relax and celebrate. We have offered Christmas bonuses in various years and hope to continue so long as we are able.
