Full Job Description
Wittenberg University's Department of Math and Computer Science is seeking a new colleague to support the growing need at Wittenberg for statistics education. This is a full-time, Professor of Practice appointment to begin in August 2021 that may be renewed annually for a total of no more than five years initially. Wittenberg is committed to attracting and retaining highly qualified individuals who collectively reflect the diversity of our student body and society at-large. The teaching load is four courses per semester. The primary responsibilities for this position will include teaching introductory and general education statistics courses and advising students. Professional development support is available for those candidates that desire it.
The successful candidate must stay abreast of and implement best practices from statistics pedagogy in their classes. They will work closely with all departments that require statistics coursework (nursing, business, environmental science, etc.) to ensure we teach pertinent skills to their majors. Candidates should also be able to support the math and computer science programs.
For this position, we require that candidates have a master's degree or higher in a field related to statistics. They must also have experience in teaching statistics. Candidates should have a strong commitment primarily to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting.
