Human Resources/Payroll Implementation Specialist

Pay Range: $20.92 – $30.10 (commensurate with qualifications)

Employment Terms: Immediate through December 31, 2019

THE ROLE

UC Hastings seeks to find a qualified applicant for a full-time, 18-month assignment to support and assist the College’s Human Resources and Payroll functions with the implementation of PeopleSoft’s HR and Payroll modules under the UC Path project. The incumbent will assist in analyzing and documenting current and future payroll workflows, including payroll taxes and benefits as the College prepares to transition from the current payroll system to PeopleSoft in October 2019.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical duties and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform data analysis on current payroll workflow in PPS verse UC Path by documentation
  • Participate in system upgrades and system conversion
  • Prepare monthly payroll and benefit account reconciliations
  • Process manual checks and pay adjustments and gross-to-net calculation
  • Review and audit payroll report for accuracy, completeness and validity for all employees
  • Assist with 3rd party payments for payroll related payables
  • Assist with posting journal entries provided by supervisor
  • Assist and understand timesheets for non-exempt and exempt employees
  • Conduct and distribute regular HR/payroll reports to various departments
  • Maintain and regularly update existing HR/payroll process and procedure
  • Perform duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with major course work in accounting, HR, or business administration or minimum of three (3) years of related HR/payroll experience, preferable in an educational environment;
  • Knowledgeable of California and federal regulations governing wage and hour laws
  • Experience with payroll/HRIS software experience is required and preferably with PeopleSoft’s Payroll Module, ADP, Paychex, or Work Day
  • Fundamental understanding of FLSA and labor regulations
