Under limited supervision, the Senior Network Engineer is responsible for complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities associated with one or more technical areas within the Network function, such as, but not limited to, network design, engineering, implementation, or operations/user support. Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation requires evaluation and judgment. Assist in the planning of large-scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies. Provide work leadership and training to other Network Engineers. Requires thorough knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, networks and applications.


Technology Skills

Design, plan for, implement and maintain network data communications systems.
In-Depth knowledge of Cisco routers and switches including configuration and troubleshooting.
In-Depth knowledge of LAN/WAN and network protocols.
In-Depth knowledge of Cisco ACI SDN and IWAN SD WAN solutions
In-Depth knowledge of Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, Flex Connect configurations and troubleshooting
Knowledge of network monitoring tools and commands to ensure quick resolution to issues.
Ability to manage support cases with external technology vendors.
Understand the information security implications of technology solutions and ensure they comply with the Information Security policies and processes.
Provide Level III support on network and telecommunications-related issues.
Actively support LAN/WAN standards as well as interfaces to applications, from workstations, and among diverse systems.
Provide guidance, documentation, and appropriate training to Zelis technical and operations employees on support of implemented WAN technologies.
Undertake proactive measures to ensure compliance with the Information Security policies and processes.
Maintain, monitor and operate the corporate networks, security and computing platforms to ensure current and future enterprise needs are met.
Support and maintain a high-availability unified messaging platform.
Proactively monitor the network and computing platforms for performance issues.
Demonstrate and practice ITIL best practices.
Respond within strict time frames and escalate incidents according to incident handling guidelines.
Assist in the developing process and procedures for the infrastructure team.
Demonstrate and practice defined testing for all changes in the production environment.
Assist system administrators in issue diagnosis and resolution.
Create the required design and support documentation for projects, systems builds, processes and changes.
Functional Processes

Provide guidance and counsel to functional organizations and their managers with the formulation and deployment of processes and appropriate application of technology to support the overall company objectives.
Coordinate, facilitate and communicate the development of "Best Practices" associated with information technology solutions.
Technology Support

Provide Zelis technology users with fantastic levels of support.

Ensure timely and appropriate communication to members of the IS team and management.
Assist with the development and compliance of Zelis policies and processes.
Contribute actively to department- and company-level communication forums.
Provide documentation to support the appropriate use of Zelis infrastructure.
Provide feedback within the Information Systems group regarding the implementation, support and on-going efforts of technology solutions.
Provide documentation to support the operational aspects of our tools and products.
Vendor Relationships

Establish and maintain positive working relationships between Zelis and our technology partners.
Work as the primary liaison between our company and our network technology vendors.
Work with our technology vendors to continually improve the tools available to us.
Ensure a complete understanding of our contractual relationships (software licensing agreements and software maintenance agreements).
Maintain appropriate maintenance agreements for our technology solutions.
Interact with third-party software suppliers to perform problem resolution and enhancement.
Business Recovery

Develop and maintain processes to support business continuity in the event of a disaster situation as it relates to Network and Infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and works well with minimum supervision. She/he will have strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills and have expertise and familiarity with the following technologies:

Routing Protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)
Cisco Switching (Nexus 9000 NX-OS/ACI Leaf/Spine, 5000, and 3000 series switches and Catalyst 9000, 3650, 3850)
Cisco Routing platforms (ASR 1000, ISR 4000, CSR 1000)
Cisco ASA Firewalls & Firepower Threat Detection Appliances

A qualified candidate for this position will have a minimum of:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
7+ years’ network engineering and support experience in a production Cisco environment.
Technical Certifications Preferred (CCIE, Cisco CCNP, VMware, Microsoft)
