As a member of the Jelly Belly Creative Services department, under the direction of the Creative Services Manager, with input from the Director of eBusiness, primary responsibility is to create and design desktop and mobile-friendly digital graphic assets for various ecommerce and branding functions. As a secondary responsibility, provides graphic design, media and print support as needed.
COMPENSATION: This position pays within a range of $21.00 - $24.00 an hour, based on experience, as an FLSA non-exempt employee paid weekly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
This position is responsible for supporting all aspects of website front-end and marketing programs, including but not limited to: email campaigns, on-site and off-site banner ads, buttons, landing pages, branding images and product images. Provides additional graphic design support related to various print and A/V media requests as needed.
The candidate must possess expert working knowledge of key graphic programs including, but not limited to, Photoshop and Illustrator. In addition, must have a solid understanding of design considerations that impact the mobile user (file types, file sizes, readability) as well as a basic understanding of ADA-compliance in the context of digital art design. Familiarity with the Esko workflow automation system is helpful, but not necessary.
Produce consistent, clean, up-scale design that is consistent with the brand style by applying knowledge about design elements such as color and composition. In keeping with this requirement, artistic ability and creativity are essential.
Create designs and concepts based on knowledge of digital/website/ecommerce layout principles, restrictions and aesthetic design concepts regarding size and arrangement of illustrative material, copy, font style and size of type. Be able to lay out these website-friendly page designs in all formats (desktop, mobile and tablet), ready to be coded by developers.
Responsible for proofing assigned projects with a keen attention to detail, reviewing final concepts/layouts and suggesting improvements as necessary.
Assumes lead position in performing file searches, Internet research and scanning and/or preparing digital files and proofing of all related artwork.
Must be willing and able to meet project deadlines, prioritizing work and requesting clarification as necessary.
Skill in product photography is preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three (3) to to five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An equivalency of education could possibly fulfill formal degree requirements. Possesses a reasonable level of technical artistic background (i.e. clear understanding of color and design theories).
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Web Design, Graphic Design, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software.
Must have flexible design ability and willingness to learn. Must have interest in design as it relates to online advertising and marketing, print and A/V media.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Excellent verbal and writing skills, including the ability to communicate rationale behind design concepts.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
