Full Job Description
Support data collection and analysis at the Wyoming Infrared Observatory for the NASA EPSCoR project: Igniting a New Era of Planet Discovery with FHiRE: A Precision Spectrograph at the WIRO Telescope
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate the Wyoming Infrared Observatory (WIRO) telescope 12-16 nights per month
Collect data using the WIRO Fibre High-Resolution Echelle spectrograph in support of a search for extra-solar planets
Assist in the data reduction and analysis of the radial-velocity survey
Assist in the refinement of the FHIRE instrument capabilities and of high-precision radial-velocity measurements of extra-solar planet candidates
Participate in weekly team meetings of faculty and student teams
Education: Bachelors degree in astronomy, physics, or closely related field
Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirement: Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Official Vehicle Policy found at: https://www.uwyo.edu/risk/_files/docs/offical-vehicle-policy.pdf
Ability to work indoors at 9700' elevations for extended periods.
