The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for an **Instructional Designer** in our Advocacy group. This position is located at our **National Center** office in **Dallas, Texas (remote/home based is acceptable)** .
In this role, you will direct, develop and execute a leadership development plan for building partnerships, interested agencies, and on-the-ground organizers.
**Essential Job Duties: **
+ Conduct evaluations and modify the plan as needed. Collaborate with State and Community Advocacy Managers and grantees (as appropriate) to address resources, tools and training needs for active and future campaigns.
+ Researches, establishes curriculum and facilitates leadership development programs for the Voices for Healthy Kids grantees and network that advance policy change and health equity success. Integrate participation in a leadership network of professionals to encourage continued coaching, movement building, and sharing.
+ Plan, organize, and conduct cross-training, leader to leader coaching or related methods as appropriate based on the identified target audience. Modify engagement programs for VFHK teams at the local, state or federal level including volunteers and partner organizations. Facilitate and coordinate agenda development, content creation, speaker engagement, post-training follow-up plans while working closely with key staff and consultants for online and in person events.
+ Conduct needs assessment, review existing volunteer training modules, and research best practices for advocacy or policy movement organization and education.
+ Increase learning opportunities and growth of the VFHK movement, including potential podcast, short video and other short training opportunities.

+ Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Journalism, Adult Education or related field/work experience.
+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience in building a learning and coaching environment for leadership development
+ Successful experience in leading a diverse team and activating community leadership.
+ Demonstrated understanding in advocacy/public policy, community organization/mobilization, media/communications, and grassroots advocacy tactic development and implementation.
+ Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time constraints.
+ Exceptional oral and written communication skills
+ Must be able to travel overnight approx. 10% of the time.
**Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for: **
+ Experience with local, state and/or federal advocacy or policy organizations.
+ Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and the public as part of a team.
+ Knowledge of voluntary health organizations or nonprofit organizations.
+ Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for the use of technology and information systems.
