Position Title: Energy Educator/Operations Assistant
Job Description (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)
The Capitol Region Education Council (CREC), is seeking a part-time Energy Educator/Operations Assistant who has a passion for the environment and energy efficiency and conservation. Working out of the EnergizeCT Center in North Haven, CT, the Energy Educator/Operations Assistant will provide energy and conservation information to the public and students of all ages. Under the direction of the CREC program manager and Energize CT Center program administrators, the Energy Educator/Operations Assistant will:
Greet visitors, lead tours, and answer energy and conservation inquiries
Lead tours of the Center for groups student through adult
Assist with special event preparation and execution
Assist in exhibit updates and maintenance upon request
Assist with data collection, data entry, and other media updates
Identify and implement areas for improvement in exhibits, tours, and presentations
Assist in event planning, preparation, and execution
Perform clerical and housekeeping tasks as assigned
Assist with the management of the conference space
Perform independent research and study to further develop energy and conservation knowledge
Help provide coverage for full-time staff absences/time off
Occasional work outside of regularly scheduled business hours
Carry out daily Center operations
Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, education, environmental science, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
Experience, knowledge and understanding in working with adults and students.
Experience and/or background in residential energy and water consumption, residential housing construction and energy efficiency as well as an aptitude to further develop such knowledge is desirable
Ability to work independently and with others to complete multiple tasks
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Superior customer service skills.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, database and spreadsheet software; experience with LCDs, audio visual equipment, internet research, etc.
Ability to physically assist with the conference space setup and breakdown, including moving tables chairs, and other equipment.
