Description

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to script, build, implement, troubleshoot, and support infrastructure automation and application stacks in AWS. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Linux, Bash, Python, CloudFormation, and finding innovative ways to further automation in Amazon.

Required Skills/Years of Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 7+ years of supporting applications running in Linux environments
  • 7+ years of building, deploying, and troubleshooting application stacks
  • 7+ years of ensuring compliance to best practices and corporate procedures and policies
  • 7+ years of supporting Java/Tomcat application infrastructure
  • 7+ years of composing or contributing to technical documentation
  • 7+ years of excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • 7+ years of working across functional and organizational borders to resolve issues
  • 7+ years of developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Bash scripts
  • 3+ years of AWS CloudFormation
  • 3+ years of developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Python code
  • 3+ years of AWS VPC, Route53, Subnets, ELB, NAT instances, Bastion hosts
  • 3+ years of AWS ELB, EC2, S3, and CloudWatch
  • 3+ years of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • 2+ years of analyzing and documenting solution pros and cons
  • 1+ year of experience working with AWS RDS

Responsibilities

The AWS Cloud Architect will be tasked to:

  • Become a highly valued, contributed member of existing Cloud Services Team
  • Plan, implement, and support the deployment of application infrastructure in various environments
  • Develop Bash scripts and Python code to automate the integration of multiple components
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain automation to provision application environments
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain Bash scripts and Python code
  • Extensively unit test automation, CloudFormation, code, and scripts
  • Participate in solution reviews to ensure work is appropriately designed and effectively tuned for platform performance
  • Contribute to the overall quality of the Cloud Engineering Team solution delivery
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Be respectful, helpful, and constructive when advising others or offering critique
  • Research AWS documentation and other sources to document multiple approaches with their associated pros and cons
  • Implement consistent, resilient, secure, and scalable solutions
  • Deliver solutions with accompanying assets (i.e., Confluence page, GitHub code) on time
  • Think forward with technology. Do not promote/champion outdated languages or approaches
  • Be willing to learn more about using containers on AWS
  • Participate in on-call rotation with other Cloud Engineers
  • Work on additional engineering tasks, as requested
