Department: Human Resources
Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources or designee, this position is responsible for performing HR-related duties and works closely with other members of the HR team supporting the overall mission of the organization. This position provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry.
Essential Job Functions
Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
Reconciles benefits statements.
Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
Assists with the processing of terminations.
Assist with the preparation of the performance review process.
Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks the status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process.
Ensure all employee records are properly uploaded and incorrect folders, accurate, readable, etc.
Executes and coordinates office operations such as office meetings, conferences, workshops, appointments, and/or special events.
Guide employees through the onboarding process.
Responsible for working with the Director of Human Resources in administering various components of the Union employee benefits program, including day-to-day plan administration, problem-solving and planning; participant counseling, education, and communication. Ensures employees benefit elections are input accurately and timely
Ensures to inform in a timely manner to the Finance Department of Leave Status and/or any changes affecting the employee’s pay.
Serve as the system expert (understand and communicate new and existing functionality; provide user training and documentation.)
Ensure data integrity in all HR systems.
Acts as the primary contact for assigned function with outside organizations or other departments; respond to technical administrative questions and ensures necessary follow up.
Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Must have high initiative, integrity, strong work ethic, good communication, and analytical skills
Excellent time management, organizational skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
Able and willing to work well in a diverse environment
Attention to detail and highly organized, ensuring quality and accuracy in one’s work
Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing tasks/projects
Highly analytical and able to strategically solve problems in a logical and systematic way, quickly grasping and applying concepts
Training & Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
At least 2 years Human Resources experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, a plus.
Previous experience in a union environment, a plus.
