General: Assists the Director/Manager in the technical management by ensuring proper day to day operations of the area. Serves as a resource person for team members. Primary duties include ensuring compliance with policies/procedures and regulatory requirements, problem solving, teaching/training, and communication. Specific: Responsible for the area of quality control, employee scheduling, and employee training.
Demonstrates ability to plan and organize work flow to maximize productivity while maintaining quality, safety and customer satisfaction.. Assists in the development of PDCA systems to implement and monitor process improvements and take action where appropriate. Ensures team members maintain departmental policies/procedures, and adhere to all quality, safety, and regulatory standards/requirements. Supports department by monitoring regulatory/accreditation compliance. Takes actions to address deficiencies as appropriate. Trains new and current team members and students. Ensures that orientation and training checklists are completed. Makes sure that annual mandatory education is completed and competencies are assessed and documented. Provides feedback to leadership about team members' performance, including need for coaching, counseling, disciplinary action. Assists leadership in completing initial and annual performance appraisals. Recommends/Assists with the preparation of departmental training and education, quality and safety programs and performance improvement projects. Acts as resource person for daily operations within the department, section or unit. Very knowledgeable about the specific aspects/technical details of the job, and readily share knowledge with others. Participates in the interview process and provides feedback on candidates. Meets with all internal customers on a scheduled basis to assess EVS performance and clarify expectations Creates, implements and maintains a departmental complaint procedure and tracking. Recommends resolutions to the manager. Follows up with customers on resolution of issues Inspect housekeeping equipment, including soap, paper towel and hygiene dispensers throughout the organization, for proper operation and condition. Order maintenance repair; or replacements as required. Communicate and work closely with other departments. Receive work requests, negotiate priorities, assign and coordinate work to minimize disruption to medical center activities. Communicate with nursing supervisor and other department leadership when unexpected disruptions to service occur and work together to prioritize. Maintain efficient and cost-effective inventory of housekeeping and laundry materials and supplies. Prepare requisitions for replacement of items and issue cleaning supplies to housekeeping employees. Ensure adequate linen supplies are available to other departments. Perform duties or housekeeper or project worker. Fill in work assignments as needed and perform other duties as assigned by management. Use computer to prepare reports, create forms, schedule projects and communicate with other team members. Infection Prevention Specialist: competent in the set and operation of the whole room disinfection system. Conducts visual inspections of the facility and reports finding to manager. Assists shift Lead in room inspections during peak times and fills in as shift Lead when necessary.
