This opening is for a Senior Network Security Engineer in the DC/NoVA Metro Area to perform project-based consulting with various customers to design, implement, and support Cisco-based networks.

The first project you will undertake as a NetCraftsmen is a Network Segmentation project for a Fortune 500 Global Client, where you will analyze existing VLANs/Network Segments to identify zones which require protection, document required traffic flows for nodes within protected zones, develop an Implementation Plan, and deploy necessary access control list (ACL) and intrusion protection system (IPS) updates. Follow on projects will include a firewall review/upgrade and an 802.1x re-implementation. As part of this project, there will be some out of region travel, which for the first 4 months may be as much as 50% overnight travel (one week on-site, next week home office) for local project execution.

This is a full-time role, direct hire role. NetCraftsmen requires US citizenship for access to certain federal client locations and you will need to successfully pass a low-level background investigation and drug screen.

When not on a client site, you will work in a virtual office based environment (must be within driving distance to the DMV area though) to assist customers with network security-centric high-level and detailed design, implementation, operations, troubleshooting, and issue resolution. You will develop documentation as it relates to project requirements, and assist with or develop customer-facing presentations of technology solutions.

Required background for Senior Network Engineer

  • Must be willing to accept a full-time direct hire role and be able to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship. Some clients may require US citizenship due to clearance requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of core routing and switching functions - CCNP R/S or equivalent knowledge
  • Security expertise with Cisco Firewalls (FirePower, ASA) as well as experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (Cisco ISE) deployment
  • Excellent customer facing skills as well as strong written and oral communications

Preferred background for Senior Network Engineer

  • Certifications in multiple technology areas with an active Cisco CCNP Security or CCIE Security strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with wireless LAN technologies
  • Exposure to Data Center and virtualization technologies
