Assistant Controller
Our SW Michigan based group of companies can offer excellent advancement for a Tech savvy Assistant Controller willing to take initiative and work hard. Our companies range from Manufacturing, Distribution and Services, that have been in business for over 40 years. We operate in both domestic and international markets. We are currently growing through acquisitions and organic development. In this position, you will, report to the Corporate Controller and play a key role in various aspects of our business as follows:
· Participate in significant IT software/ERP upgrades in financial reporting and migrate US Entities to one system. Develop consolidated reporting for multiple US and International Entities.
· Prepare monthly financial statements and related general ledger analysis.
· Prepare financial and operational ad hoc analysis reports.
· Develop accounting best practices for integrating acquired entities.
· Become internal resources for all software programs used. Ability to learn, implement and train peers on new programs.
· Monitor tax compliance with certain states and prepare related returns.
· Prepare reports and analysis for third party tax and audit compliance firms.
· Supervise others in areas for AR, AP, and bank operations.
· Assist Human Resources with payroll processing, compliance and managing benefit programs.
Accountant Requirements and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field required. CPA preferred
· Five plus years of proven accounting or auditing experience
· Experience with ERP and Accounting software packages required. Currently using Sage 100, QuickBooks, Expensify and Paylocity.
· Excellent computer skills and experience in Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced skills with Excel functions.
· Excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills
· Knowledge of accounting best practices, laws, state/national regulations and GAAP
· Ability to problem solve, multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently across multiple entities
