Peterbilt Motors Company, a PACCAR Company, has an opening for an Applications Engineering Intern at our Division Office in Denton, Texas. In this role, you will provide technical support for Peterbilt trucks in areas such as weight distribution analysis, powertrain requirements (engines, transmissions, axles, cooling packages, etc.), turning radius analysis, and general vehicle information. This position provides a great opportunity to improve your communication skills, and to learn overall truck design and component integration.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Communicate with dealers, body builders and customers in a professional manner to meet or exceed their vehicle specification needs. This includes answering phone calls, responding to emails, and completing specification reviews.
Learn and use PACCAR proprietary application software to help resolve specification issues and to create customer quotes.
Update and create new versions of the Engineering Data Book and Body Builder Manuals.
Provide transmission and axle gearing recommendations to meet the customer’s powertrain optimization goals.
Participate in customer reviews as the technical resource supporting the Sales Department.
Work with engineering groups on various design projects and provide perspective from the customer.
Support other departments such as Pricing, Sales, Engineering and Marketing with various technical information.
Use Creo to support dealers and engineering by providing frame layouts, clearance checks, etc.
Qualifications & Skills
The candidate we seek will be currently enrolled in an Engineering or related program. If you are an energetic, a team player, who is able to handle multiple tasks, take initiative, solve problems quickly, and have good communication skills (written and verbal) along with good interpersonal skills, this might be the position for you.
Candidates must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Program with an Engineering Degree focus. Minimum qualifications include completion of sophomore year in an engineering program leading to a Bachelor’s Degree.
