NovaCare Rehabilitation is looking to hire a full-time certified athletic trainer. The primary responsibility is Loyola University Chicago, a Division I Athletics University who participates in the Missouri Valley Conference. Loyola University Chicago, a Jesuit University, is a regionally accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering graduate and undergraduate programs, located on the western shores of Lake Michigan, in the city of Chicago, IL. This position is a full-time staff appointment at the university who reports to the head athletic trainer and Regional Director of Sports Medicine for NovaCare.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting in the administration of all aspects of injury/illness prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and health care education and counseling for student athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program. The sports assignment is tbd but you will be assisting with all sports in collaborative team approach. This will include some nights, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel as necessary with selected intercollegiate teams.
Coverage of LUC sports camps
Documentation of and maintaining accurate injury records.
Organization of rehabilitation and injury prevention programs.
Cooperation and collaboration with strength and conditioning staff.
Coordination and oversight of all necessary medical referrals.
Collaboration with team physicians, Loyola Medical and other allied health-care professional providers.
Direct communication with coaches, parents, student-athletes, athletic administration and other stakeholders when appropriate.
Organize and participate in pre-participation physical examinations follow-up’s as directed by team physicians.
Education of student-athletes with respect to injury prevention, nutrition and psychological support in dealing with injuries.
Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned and commensurate with the normal activities related to collegiate varsity sport athletic training department and Novacare rehabilitation.
Administratively support the Sports Medicine department operations.
Assisting in the management of institutional and NCAA drug testing.
Following the NATA Code of Ethics as well as understanding and following HIPAA and FERPA regulations
Analytical, problem solving and reasoning ability; independent judgment
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Sport Assignment: TBD
Master’s Degree in kinesiology, athletic training, sports medicine, sports science or other related field;
At least three years, post graduate studies, of athletic training experience with an NCAA Division I program
Proof of current BOC certification
Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
Must have a valid driver’s license at all times
CSCS or similar certification
BLS for professional rescuer: Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
Eligible for Illinois licensing
