Associated Luxury Hotels (ALH) is looking for a Global Controller to direct and enhance the organization's international accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. The ideal candidate is a proven business partner with a strong desire to lead an accounting team function that goes beyond process and reporting requirements. This leader MUST be a team player as a key part of the role will be the integration of two separate business units into a cohesive team with shared goals and metrics.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience mobilizing teams to meet and exceed the organization’s operational and financial goals. Specific expertise is required in supporting the Month-end close process including preparing and analyzing Monthly financial statements, balance sheet accounts and cash flow projections as well as reporting departmental, business unit and consolidated Financial results to Executive Team and Investors. Must be have experience with complex Foreign Exchange reporting issues as well as coordinating Year-end Audit with external Auditors and preparing audited Year-end Financial statements.
Additionally, this candidate must be a proven people leader, who develops strong relationships, and loves working with others (in and outside of Accounting). This person will have exceptional general management, financial, and communication skills, with a proven track record of improving operations.
The Global Controller shall report directly to the Chief Financial Officer who is based in Boston Massachusetts and will have teams in Orlando Florida and Frankfurt Germany. The ability to travel regularly is a requirement.
The Global Controller must be a detail-oriented person with a “hands-on” approach to problem solving, a strong project manager, a technical accounting expert and a team focused leader who will flourish in a fast-growing and ever-evolving environment. A strong work ethic and successful track record of delivering results, along with a “get it done” attitude and approach to the job, is a must. They will lead by example.
The Global Controller must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. A proven ability to use sound and accurate judgment when making decisions is necessary.
The Global Controller will have a minimum of 10 years of Hospitality/Loyalty, Sales-focused, or B to B organization experience. Prior experience leading an Accounting team in a multi-country, multi-legal entity business is required. Candidate should have done at least one General Ledger or ERP system conversion. Global Tax expertise is a strong plus.
Must be fluent in MS Office programs- Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Ideal candidate will have experience with SAP as their GL platform.
Must be a CPA or Chartered Accountant and should have a BA/BS in Finance or Accounting. An MBA is a strong plus.
Duties and responsibilities (included but not limited to):
Global Accounting: Oversee the various regional (US, EMEA, Asia Pacific) accounting teams. The Global Controller oversees the global Accounting agenda across our multi-subsidiary, multi-region and cross-functional organization. This includes orchestrating the processes and cadence for daily transactional activities, the monthly close, monthly financial reporting, cash management, banking including debt covenant compliance, and the monthly corporate consolidation. Additionally this person with be the key contact for external auditors and tax consultants, and will be responsible for the timely completion of US GAAP consolidated financial statements, regional statutory audits, and all federal, state and local tax filings. The Global Controller will responsible for foreign exchange management and reporting, including hedging and business unit reporting. (WorldHotels has a complex foreign exchange business and the consolidated financials have a foreign exchange component.)
The Global Controller will work very closely with their peer VP of FP&A to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, as well as budgeting and forecasting. The Global Controller will manage a team of 13 including 2 business unit/regional controllers and their respective teams. The key customers of the Global Controller are the CEO, CFO, ALH’s Executive Team, the individual Business Unit Heads and Board of Directors.
Strategic Initiatives: The Global Controller will be responsible for implementing a single General Ledger / ERP platform for ALH. Currently we are on SAP in Europe with our WorldHotels business and Sage in the US for the ALHI business. Additional strategic initiative work will involve working with the business unit leader of the new Loyalty program to ensure we are accurately and timely recording and reporting on all transactions.
Communicate clearly with the CFO, CEO and Executive team on financial results, areas of risk, and areas of opportunity. Manage a globally diverse team with a clear and consistent vision of the department and what good looks like to ensure we have a best in class team in place.
Business Partner: Become be a trusted business partner to key leaders in our organization. In this role you will be partnering with senior business leaders and their respective teams.
Ability to travel to Orlando, Boston and Frankfurt offices and be on the road 20% to 40% of the time.
