TITLE: Manager, College and Career Readiness

DIVISION: Goodwill Excel Center

The Manager, College and Career Readiness will build relationships, systems, and programs to support all college and career readiness programming at the Goodwill Excel Center (GEC). The position will direct all programming to ensure that GEC students receive market valuable and high quality career and technical education classes that yield industry recognized credentials or college credit, and that graduates are employed or are in college within 6 months of graduation. Position will co-manage alumni caseload and maintain close contact and relationships with alumni post-graduation to track and ensure student post-secondary employment and college goals are achieved. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a secondary or higher education setting, and/or career counseling and workforce development.

3. Minimum 2 years of direct supervisory experience and partnership management.

4. Strong instructional skills as evidenced by prior success in an outcome-driven classroom setting. Ability to facilitate and make presentations to diverse audiences.

5. Experience and knowledge in managing and developing highly successful occupational skills training programs that result in market valuable certifications.

6. Demonstrated knowledge, familiarity, and relationships with local colleges and how to support students in applying for and successfully enrolling in college.

7. Demonstrated experience in assisting individuals in removing barriers to achieve personal success, as evidenced by a successful track record.

8. Ability to work independently and with a team.

9. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

10. Outstanding organizational, planning, and administrative skills.

11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks simultaneously.

12. Familiarity with District workforce agencies (DOES) and demonstrated partnership building skills.

13. Adept utilizing Excel and experience analyzing statistical data for informed decision making.

14. Has working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google Applications (specifically Gmail), Excel, Word and Internet Explorer.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in education, or a related field.
2. 6-8 years of experience working to create and implement career and college pathways.
3. Connections to DC’s high yield industries and area 2 and 4 year colleges.

4. Experience with adult learners returning for a high school diploma a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Directs and manages the implementation of all college and career readiness instruction and programming at GEC to include management of a College and Career Readiness Specialist, contract Career and Technical Education Instructors/Vendors, and strategic partnerships.

2. Act as the primary liaison between the Workforce Development division, and GEC to align planning and implementation of career and technical education courses, job development, and job placement activities so that CTE class and job placement goals are achieved.

3. Oversees the development and evaluation of employability and Senior Seminar curriculum to ensure it is relevant and prepares students effectively to achieve their post-secondary goals. Oversees adaptation of curriculum and class Scope and Sequence after each term to incorporate recommendations and feedback from employers, community-based organizations, Goodwill staff, and students.

4. Co-teach Senior Seminar and Employability Skills classes, as needed, and based on the needs and demand prevalent term to term.

5. Oversees Senior Seminar and CTE course assignment requests made for all students to ensure alignment with GEC Course Progression and policies.

6. Coordinates and manages implementation of all CTE classes to include monitoring and proper implementation of all vendor/trainer contracts, creation and delivery of syllabi, ordering of supplies, scheduling and communication with contract trainers/vendors, classroom preparation, grade submission, industry recognized credential attainment, and ensures any required accommodations identified as needed by GEC students are met and managed properly.

7. Identify, recruit, and schedule college and post-secondary providers for presentations and mini fairs and monitor and track college application and acceptance status for all GEC students.

8. Support the research, development, planning, and development of college credit classes offered and made accessible to GEC students prior to graduation.

9. Manage and direct the creation of an alumni engagement plan to support and keep in touch with alumni of GEC, while also managing a caseload of graduate alumni to support and track.

10. Attend and participate in meetings of key stakeholders in education and training, workforce and economic development to develop and strengthen information and resources related to the creation of college and post-secondary pathways.

11. Ensures all data entry and collection related to college and career readiness is accurate and correct and reviewed and when targets are not met, develops corrective action plans to improve goal attainment.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position manages a College and Career Readiness Specialist and oversees contract trainers and vendors on site.
