The Digital Sales Manager is responsible for leading digital sales efforts to meet or exceed predetermined goals. The Digital Sales Manager will work collaboratively with the station’s Director of Sales and Local Sales Managers to drive revenues and retention by providing training and direct sales expertise to Account Executives. The DSM will effectively price and package all sales inventory of the owned and operated digital properties and audience extension opportunities. Collaborating with the Director of Sales and Local Sales Managers, the Digital Sales Manager will coordinate sales materials for the Local Sales Team, which include multi-platform packages utilizing all of Meredith's Digital and TV assets. The DSM will oversee all related processes: interpret audience analytics, respond to requests for proposals, negotiate and execute insertion orders, coordinate all trafficking and campaign launch, and optimize performance and delivery. The DSM will also work in conjunction with the Creative Services Department in deciding on the utilization of the promotion inventory designated for digital programs and projects. The Digital Sales Manager will work proactively with the digital content creators in the Newsroom to fulfill sales/news marketing plans. The Digital Sales Manager will also conduct regular training sessions for the sales staff and create effective systems and procedures to execute sales.
Essential Job Functions
25% - Retain & grow current digital business and develop new business clients.
25% - Generate digital advertising revenue through sales of website, mobile and social media campaigns to local advertisers.
20% - Understand media options including traditional and digital advertising, and guide clients to assist them in achieving their marketing objectives.
10% - Provide input on sales promotion ideas and contesting.
10% - Maintain advertiser/inventory booking pipeline.
10% - Prepare & submit sales and financial reports as directed.
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience: 5+ years digital sales experience and 2+ years in a management role
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A demonstrable existing book of business/client relationships
Applied knowledge and experience of the ever-changing digital landscape, evolving nature of media consumption, and best practices on how to achieve client objectives.
Proven ability to communicate, educate, and convey value in both written and oral forms.
Proven ability to manage people and situations as a leader, an equal, and a collaborator.
Passion for building revenue - achieving financial goals.
Full understanding of digital analytics as well as content and sales applications for various digital platforms.
Must possess in depth knowledge of third party ad networks and content providers.
Must have clean driving record.
