The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS, is seeking highly motivated applicants with a desire to learn for a full-time professional research assistant (PRA) position in the Mass Spectrometry Core Facility directed by Dr. Nichole Reisdorph, Associate Professor.

This position has two primary purposes:
Supporting financial and administrative responsibilities associated with the SSPPS Mass Spectrometry Core Facility
Assist in conducting research for extramurally funded scientific studies. Specific administrative duties include performing day-to-day operations of the laboratory focusing on ordering and maintenance of sample inventories.
This position will also hold fiscal responsibilities including developing and monitoring the annual core budget, assistance with pricing structure changes, invoicing customers, generating estimates, and monitoring grant budgets. Some marketing of the Core Facility capabilities and liaising with University Finance office may also be required.

The research focus for this position involves supporting a variety of metabolomics and small molecule projects, including mass spectrometry-based assays. Specific duties include assistance with day-to-day operations of the laboratory focusing on processing tissue, cell, and biofluid samples for analysis. This position may also entail performing mass spectrometry-based assays in a GLP-like environment and performing data analysis.

Minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related field. Experience working with mass spectrometry, metabolomics, and/or small molecules is strongly preferred. In addition, experience working with budgets, spreadsheets, and familiarity with purchasing is preferred.
