Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.

Seeking a professor to teach statistics and analytics courses, primarily the statistics series ECON 291 Probability and Statistics and ECON 292 Statistical Inference, but also potentially teach courses in the Masters of Science in Business Analytics program such as MSBA 700 Intro to Quantitative Analysis & Programming, MSBA 710 Predictive Analytics & Forecasting, and MSBA 730 Optimization; publish research in statistics and analytics applications to business; perform service to the college, university and community.

USC Upstate is seeking teacher-scholars who have a commitment to excellence in teaching and working with a diverse student population and show clear potential for scholarly research and publication. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in student and civic engagement, and active learning pedagogies, such as service-learning, mentoring undergraduate research, and the scholarship of teaching, learning and application; and experience with teaching online or hybrid courses. USC Upstate provides extensive support for junior faculty including competitive professional-development funding, opportunities for student-faculty research collaboration, and a range of workshops and mentoring programs to develop our strengths as teacher-scholars.

The AACSB accredited Johnson College of Business and Economics currently awards a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, Economics/Finance, General Business, Management, Marketing, and Logistics & Supply Chain Management. The College also offer minors in Business Administration, Business and Entrepreneurship, and Economics as well as a dual program with Landshut University in Germany. The Johnson College is located in a state-of-the-art 60,000 sq. ft. facility in downtown Spartanburg. The George houses the GreenHouse Business Incubator which provides shared work/office space, support and mentoring to area entrepreneurs to help them scale their ventures and attract investor funding. The College of Business and Economics has approximately 800 undergraduate students from 18 states and 11 countries.

Required Education and Experience

A terminal degree (e.g.: Ph.D., DBA , etc.) required by the time of appointment in applied statistics, analytics, or a closely related field from an institution accredited by AACSB ; academically qualified under AACSB 2017 standards; have recent research published in peer reviewed journals (except new graduates); demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence; and demonstrate ability and commitment to contributing to the College’s mission through service. ABD candidates with a planned completion date by August 15, 2019, will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching statistics and/or analytics courses in a college. Experience applying statistics and/or analytics in real-world applications. Recent peer-reviewed publications and evidence of excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.
