Job Responsibilities

Responsible for providing day to day services of the
employee health office including: vaccination administration, tracking and
leader notification of employee compliance, post offer health assessments. Management of employee blood borne pathogen
exposure program and employee injury occurrences. Attend facility specific
committee meetings as assigned.
Promotes Employee health, wellness and safety. Actions are in accordance with the Kentucky
Nurse Practice Act and established hospital and departmental policies,
procedures, and standards. Other duties
as assigned.

Essential Functions

·
Conducts/coordinates
health screens/medical surveillance

·
Orders
lab values pertinent to the employee at the time of the health screen.

·
Completes
assessment and reviews health history of employee at the time of screening.

·
Coordinates
appropriate plan of care/referrals based on relevant findings.

·
Administers
TB testing/T-Spot testing to all employees according to state regulation and
hospital policy.

·
Distributes
individual written notices to all employees at least two (2)

weeks prior to the due
date.

·
Provides
written instructions for completion of testing.

·
Educates
employees on specific requirements and follow-up as

necessary.

·
Refers
to Public Health Department/primary care physician and obtains

chest x-ray upon significant reaction to PPD according to Kentucky

Administrative
Regulations.

·
Coordinates
the review and follow-up of all incident reports received in the Health Office.

  • Inspects
all incident reports within 24 hours of arrival in the Health Office

and
forwards copy to WC Coordinator.

·
Completes
investigation on reports requiring follow-up within 48 hours of

arrival.

·
Draws
blood on healthcare worker involved in exposure and completes

HIV counseling.

·
Sends
written opinion to healthcare worker regarding status of

exposure and
information obtained on source patient.

·
Coordinates
follow-up testing/treatments in accordance with Employee

Health protocols (i.e.,
TB test, HIV test, etc.).

·
Draws
blood for follow-up testing per exposure protocol and employee

request.

·
Provides
immunization program to employees per Employee Health policy.

·
Provides
hepatitis-B and education on a continual basis.

·
Administers
standard flu vaccine during fall months.

·
Administers
tetanus/diphtheria vaccine to employees as indicated

following an injury every 10 years as recommended by
Public Health

Service Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Provides 1
time

dose Adacel as indicated per established guidelines.

·
Provides
education on MMR and administers vaccine according to

established guidelines. Maintains records on
immunization status in

employee health file.

·
Provides
education on varicella vaccine (chicken pox) and administers

vaccine according to established guidelines.

·
Provides
other immunizations as indicated.

·
Maintains
information on employee’s immunization status.

·
Evaluates
employees in need of health services and arranges for appropriate treatment or
referral.

·
Provides
first aid for employee injuries.

·
Provides
palliative care for non-occupational illness and injuries and

refers as
indicated.

·
Counsels
employees on health concerns and illness upon request.

·
Reviews
health records annually to assure current information is

available.

·
Maintains
accurate and up-to-date records as indicated by prompt

retrieval of desired information.

·
Collaborates
on activities to promote and/or maintain employee health.

·
Attends
meetings when required and participates on committees (i.e.,

Wellness,
Infection Control Liaison, and
subcommittees).

·
Reviews
the Employee Health Manual when indicated or bi-annually and

collaborates on additions to maintain accurate and
current information.

·
Participates
in health screening events of KentuckyOne Health

requested to provide information to the public and promote
a positive

image.

Coordinates
and administers drug tests according to KentuckyOne Health policy

Completes drug test on prospective employees
as soon as possible upon notification employment personnel.

·
Coordinates employee for-cause drug test upon
direction of Human

Resources.

·
Coordinates and completes random drug tests on
employees according

to the schedule indicated by Human Resources.

·
Notifies employment personnel of drug test
confirmation results upon

receipt of results.

·
Maintains
confidentiality of information of the Human Resources Department.

·
Maintains confidentiality of departmental
information according to

established procedures with no reported errors.

·
Releases confidential information only in
accordance with the

confidentiality policy and/or approval of the director of
Human

Resources.

·
Contributes
to the efficient operation of the Human Resources Department.

·
Completes special projects as assigned by the
Manager according to

established time frames.

·
Prepares and maintains reports of results as
requested by the Manager.

·
Identifies and reports equipment problems
which require maintenance

or repair to Supervisor/Manager.

·
Facilitates the efficient operation of the
department by answering the

telephone assisting callers or visitors in any way
possible.

·
Performs other duties as assigned.

requirements with the

review year(s), as established by departmental policy
and state nursing

practice policy.

Required:
Associate Degree in Nursing;
Bachelors preferred (may be in other health/safety related field)
Minimum of 2 years of nursing
experience; 1 years Employee Health experience. Familiar with Worker’s Compensation
laws; experience with OSHA, Joint Commission and OIG.
