Job Description

Our Supply Chain team ensures inventory is consistently available to meet customer demand. We coordinate all aspects of supply through supply planning, sourcing, making, inventory management, packaging and delivery. We partner across the Marketing, Finance and Manufacturing organizations to build a robust demand and supply plan and ensure we get products to the right customer, at the place, at the right time.

The primary responsibilities of this Sr. Planner & Steward role includes raw material planning, SAP stewardship, and trade compliance (back-up). A senior planner is responsible for developing raw material plans of purchase based upon the Production Schedule, placing purchase orders for Direct Raw Materials, bulk off-site waste/recovery streams, and tracking orders through delivery. He/she is expected to build productive relationships with suppliers, communicate demand forecasts, and monitor their performance. As a SAP steward for Inventory Mgmt. (bulk) and Warehouse Mgmt. responsibilities include standardizing system/practices and resolving issues for goods receipt through invoice payment. He/she will be a back-up for Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Materials transporation with DOT/IATA certification.

Develops plans of purchase for Direct Raw Materials, bulk off-site waste/recoveries, using plant production schedule and bill of materials. Communicates forecasts to suppliers.

Supports all site compliance programs (cGMP, Environmental, Financial, Safety, and Trade Compliance).

Issues change orders as necessary, and tracks orders. Communicates accelerated release to QO and Warehouse/Tank Farm personnel.

Assists in identifying/qualifying new suppliers. Coordinates qualification tasks/timelines with site resources.

Provides analysis and support for supplier contract/supply agreement development and execution.

Acts as a point of contact for routine supplier interactions. Tracks and reports supplier performance metrics.

Advises suppliers of unsatisfactory shipments and follow-ups on corrective actions.

Meets with Suppliers on periodic basis to review supply performance and future business opportunities.

Coordinates meetings/teleconferences with Suppliers to resolve issues related to product quality or to discuss process changes to be evaluated by Cherokee.

Interacts with BSC Accounts Payable and suppliers to resolve invoice exceptions.

Interacts with SAP Master Data steward and supports end users in department (tank farm and warehouse) to trouble shoot, correct discrepancies, and improve/standardize practices.

Obtain supplier price predictions and market intelligence to support the annual standard cost setting process.

Projects monthly raw material spend estimations for financial budgeting purposes and cash-flow analysis.

Supports warehouse and tank farm teams on resolution of goods receipt issues (COA's, palletization, labeling, etc.) from supplier.

Supports Purchase Price Variance (PPV) tracking/reporting.

Certified approver of Hazardous Materials, DOT/IATA certified.

Supports records for substances controlled by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) related to registration activities, control, and security over DEA substances.

Supports agency audits, inspections, and annual reporting for FTZ and DEA.

Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in business, science, engineering or related areas of study

At least 5 years experience of material planning and procurement functions in SAP or other ERP system

At least 2 years prior pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience with a bachelor's degree in business, science, engineering or related areas of study

Required Experience and Skills:
At least 5 years experience of material planning and procurement functions in SAP or other ERP system with a bachelor's degree in business, science, engineering or related areas of study....OR at least 9 years experience without a bachelor's degree.

At least 2 years prior pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience with a bachelor's degree in business, science, engineering or related areas of study.....OR at least 6 years experience without a bachelor's degree.

At least 2 yrs experience with shipping of hazardous materials, regulations, Incoterms, and contract law.

General knowledge of Foreign Trade Zone operations and reporting.

General knowledge of Drug Enforcement Administration controlled Substances/List 1 Chemicals.

Must possess strong computer skills; excellent verbal/written communications; strong negotiation skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated self-starter with capability to adapt to challenges, trouble shoot, resolve problems and standardize sustainable solutions.

Position requires high attention to detail, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and meet deadline with strong organizational skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
At least 5 years experience with shipping regulations, Incoterms, and contract law.

At least 3 years experience in trade compliance - Foreign Trade Zone operations and reporting.

Prior experience in troubleshoot and resolving SAP transactional issues.
