I. Student Records
a. Maintain and update student information to ensure accuracy in the areas of academics, personal contact information, health and emergency information, parental permission slips using school data base b. Ensure content of student folders is accurate and organized and filed as required by
State law c. Collect and file student records d. Manage and track accurate student attendance and lateness (ATS)
II. Health and Safety
a. Manages health services and relationship with Department of Health b. Tracks required immunizations and physicals in conjunction with the school nurse c. Coordinates Field Trips i. Transportation, Nurse
III. Clerical Duties
a. Welcome visitors as second contact, determine the nature of business and announce visitors to appropriate personnel. b. Assists with the answering of phones, directing callers to the appropriate staff members.
c. Take and deliver messages or transfer calls to voicemail when appropriate staff is unavailable.
d. Communicate with the public, using discretion and judgment, answering questions if possible otherwise directing individuals to the Principal or other appropriate staff member. e. Perform other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying and collating. f. Maintain fax machine, assist users, send faxes and retrieve and route incoming faxes. g. With direction from the principal, maintain and coordinate multiple calendars to include school activities and events in relationship to the NYC Department of
Education h. Modify and adapt office procedures and details in concert with the needs and requirements of the principal and staff. i. Understand and apply school policies, procedures and rules. j. Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents and community members contacted in the course of work. k. Attendance at meetings and conferences is mandatory unless otherwise instructed by the Principal l. Take on special projects and other duties as assigned by the school principal
a. Manage student transportation via bus and metro cards and other modes of transportation for arrival, dismissal, and field trips b. Ensure student transportation is aligned with school calendar c. Manages daily mode changes for students whose usual mode of transportation is different from usual
V. Serves as secondary oral translator
Must have knowledge of ATS.
