JOB TITLE: Nurse Practitioner (On-call) FLSA status: Non-exempt
Department: Outreach & Health Ministry (OHM) Reports to: Nursing Manager
Position Summary: Provide health care, education and prevention services on Health Outreach Bus and in other outreach settings.
General Purpose: Support the mission and goals of The Night Ministry by offering hospitality, health education and assessments, counseling, medical treatment, and providing referrals for further appropriate treatment to persons experiencing homelessness and any person without access to adequate health care.
Must possess M.S.N. degree and current Advanced Practice Nursing License and
Must have current driver's license and possess evidence of insurability
Conduct basic physical assessments.
Administer confidential STD and HIV testing and counseling.
Ability to work closely and in conjunction with other staff members and volunteers.
Offer referrals for health care.
Maintain documentation of health-related activities and other services provided, as required by funding or accrediting sources, using electronic medical records and other reporting mechanisms.
Participate in internal and external trainings as required.
Able and willing to travel to other outreach settings, such as shelters, food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community partners throughout the city.
Attend department, agency and inter-agency meetings as able.
Complete other tasks as assigned.
Essential skills and experience:
Minimum 5 years' nursing experience
Demonstrated experience in counseling patients/clients
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to react quickly in emergency situations; demonstrated "street smarts"
Physically able and willing to work in various settings, including outdoors
Familiarity with referral sources
Current driver's license and good driving record; access to reliable personal transportation
Nonessential skills and experience:
Working with similar populations and in non-traditional patient care settings.
Reporting to this position: No direct reports.

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may vary at the different locations required in this job.
Compensation: position offers hourly salary and is not eligible for benefits.
