This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Office of The Center Director (OD), in Rockville, MD.

Office of The Center Director (OD) oversees information management operations involving website content and 508 compliance requirements.
As a Health Communications Specialist you will provide technical communication expertise and advice to key management officials and senior management.
You will liaise with internal and external partners and customers.
You will use writing skills and editorial judgment to create, evaluate and develop integrated public health communications plans and content for nationwide and/or international dissemination.

The position of Health Communications Specialist falls under the 1001 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-13, you must meet Time-in-Grade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 04/17/2020.
Minimum Qualification Requirements for GS-13:
Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in Federal service. This experience includes applying the principles, methods, theories, practices and techniques of public health communication to function as the technical authority, and creating and implementing public health communications content for internal/external audiences by using knowledge of public health programs, public health marketing, terminology, and media platforms, tools and resources.
In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record.
