Service Operations Business Unit
The Service Operations team, headquartered in Milpitas, CA consists of Service Sales, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Product Training, and Technical Support. This is an opportunity to create a marketing function focused on the growth of the Service Business Unit with the added focus on the development of the upgrade and refurbishment Business Unit for Nanometrics products. The Service Operations organization partners with our customers and field teams across all Business Unit sectors to maintain high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers; 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive logistics network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.
The Director of Service Marketing is responsible for a wide variety of service-related Business Unit activities for the Nanometrics Product Family. The goal and measurement of success are to grow the service Business Unit including the development of enabling upgrades value proposition for hardware and software to extend customers’ capability and investment in our installed base for service revenue and profitability as customer needs evolve through the wafer fab lifecycle. A Product Family represents a defined and substantial segment of our product portfolio and is comprised of multiple products in life stages spanning new product introduction through high volume production to legacy status.
Help customers optimize their Nanometrics metrology fleet to achieve maximum value
Establish and actively communicate a comprehensive service strategy for each product within the Product Family. The service strategy will be used to drive related activity within all service functional groups, Business Unit units, and sustaining engineering functions.
Establish revenue targets and plans to create upgrade products that meet revenue targets within service for specific product families. Regularly communicate plans to all Service Operations stakeholders.
Cross-functionally and dynamically manage execution of upgrade and refurbishment product revenue plans, making course corrections where appropriate. Review progress to plan regularly with Service Operations staff, make compelling recommendations if course corrections are needed.
Establish service pricing and targets for newly introduced service products, consistent with product business strategy. Develop collateral that can be used with customers in support of value propositions and pricing. Support service sales as needed to achieve targets.
Validate target markets Total Available Market and Served Available Market, can create Market Requirements Documents with ROI associated financials.
Maintain an understanding of each product’s criticality to customers’ device production strategy within the fab and adjust the product strategy and commercial tactics as the product evolves through its life cycle
Establish and evolve service offerings consistent with service product strategy. Maintain compelling customer collateral to communicate the value of service offerings. Work directly with customers and service sales to evaluate and adopt service offerings.
Drive cross-functional tactics, such as Continuous Improvement, parts supply, Cost of Service, and escalations, consistent with the product strategy. Work with field teams and customers directly to insure needs are being met in accordance with the product strategy.
Work with peers to establish and apply appropriate execution processes such as progress to plans, product strategy changes, and collateral updates.
Can data mine Nanometrics extensive installed base for product upgrade opportunities
This is a highly collaborative leadership role within Service Operations requiring daily interaction with service sales, field service teams, service operations, spare parts operations, and tool Business Units. Approximately 40% international travel is required.
Prefer Master's Level Degree in a technical field and 10 years of experience in a related field
Strong communication skills and ability to conduct effective presentations under pressure, at customer sites or internally. Collaborative, Business Unit firm, demeanor especially in direct customer situations.
Semiconductor Capital Equipment product management, product marketing, or service management experience
Demonstrated cross-functional team leadership, at both the strategic and tactical levels.
Thrive in a Service Operations-paced, high energy environment
Critical thinker, with strong analytic skills
Well-organized, close attention to detail, able to plan work
40% travel capability to customer sites
Skilled with Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Data analytics is a must
