Assistant Manager - Central Operations
(Program Manager I)

Learning, investigating, and improving upon current practices in a rapidly changing customer-friendly environment
Organizing, budgeting, evaluating, and implementing projects and programs for assigned division
Directing and motivating supervisors in activities pertaining to: implementing new legislation; rewriting contracts, policies, procedures, and guidelines; and researching ways to improve the customer experience to include information security and road safety
Working closely with colleagues from other areas of MDOT, external entities, and other agencies to achieve our vision of connecting customers to life's opportunities
Providing unique policy and research support to MVA branch locations and customers on issues related to the fast-changing landscape of driver licensing and vehicle registration
Executing change in a fast-paced environment to increase efficiency and promote premier customer service
Utilization and development of staff

Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four (4) years of professional level experience providing oversight for programs, initiatives or projects and directing or leading teams. Two (2) years of this experience must have been in a managerial capacity.
Knowledge of COMAR and Motor Vehicle laws, rules, and regulations a plus.
1. Additional graduate education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required general experience at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience for up to two years.
2. Additional management or supervisory experience as described above may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education at the rate of one year of management or supervisory experience for 30 credit hours of education, for up to four years of the required education.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations, or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for- year basis for the required education and experience.
