Job Summary

SCS Engineers is expanding its business in the Mid-Atlantic region and is seeking a Senior Project Professional or Project Manager to assist in growing our environmental services practice in the area. This position demands a skilled manager with an existing network of contacts/client portfolio and experience within the regional environmental community. This person will work with our Environmental Services Practice Leaders for the Mid-Atlantic region.

Organizational Relationships

Direct report to Environmental Services Project Director in Reston, Virginia.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Organizing and contributing to business development activities, and serving as a client manager to foster/develop/maintain client relationships.
Developing scopes of work and budgets, managing, and executing environmental projects with senior support and oversight. Experience in environmental transactions (Phase I and II environmental site assessments, Property Condition Assessments), industrial hygiene and indoor air quality, groundwater monitoring programs, soil and groundwater remedial actions, environmental compliance auditing and permitting, engineering design, and related environmental services.
Communicating with clients, third party and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules and compliance issues.
Ensuring adherence to client and corporate contract specifications in all activities including Health, Safety, Security, and Environment.
Makes decisions independently on engineering or scientific problems and methods, represents the company in meetings to resolve important questions, and plans and coordinates work.
Management of projects should include lead technical person, client contact, scheduling of personnel, and other management duties such as projecting manpower requirements, billing projections, invoicing, and accounts receivable management.

A Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related major required.
Minimum of 10 years of related experience in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions required. Experience must include hands-on field and office based activities in environmental consulting. Specific experience on solid or hazardous waste management, compliance aspects for industrial sectors, transactional services including environmental due diligence portfolios, and environmental remediation systems and monitoring is a plus.
Demonstrated experience in project development and execution in the Private and Public (state/local/Federal/DoD) sectors preferred.
Professional Certification (EIT/PE/PG/CIH) preferred and current OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training a plus.
Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.
Must be detail-oriented and a team player with great communication, strong technical writing skills, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
